The tour at a glance
Looking for a cycling tour in Piedmont that combines UNESCO landscapes, world-class food and wine culture and epic Alpine climbs?
Piedmont is one of Italy's richest and most fascinating cycling regions — roads winding through vineyards, hills and the Alpine peaks, with landscapes that change at every turn!
Cycling in Piedmont means exploring a territory where breathtaking scenery meets one of the world's most celebrated culinary and wine traditions!
Tour itinerary
We kick off with a Shake-Down Ride: the perfect way to get to know each other, find the right rhythm and get a feel for the territory before the real adventure begins!
We set off from our hotel in Monforte d'Alba towards Barbaresco, through rolling hills crossing a sea of neatly ordered vine rows as far as the eye can see. A route that carries the scent of Nebbiolo, with the village's medieval tower rising on the horizon like a beacon among the vines, announcing our arrival in one of the symbolic villages of great Piedmontese wine!
We ride again from Monforte d'Alba towards La Morra, one of the finest balconies overlooking the entire Langhe. Gentle switchbacks alternate with sharp climbs, until we reach the village's belvedere: from here the view sweeps across Barolo, the hills of the Bassa Langa, and, on clear days, the Alps on the horizon!
Heading into the Alta Langa, towards Murazzano: the landscape changes character, vineyards give way to hazelnut groves and pastures, the climb grows more demanding, but the reward lies in the wildest, most authentic views — home to the DOP cheese that shares the village's name!
A day of rest to recharge, with relaxation at the hotel and optional alternative activities: from winery tastings to walks through nearby villages, to experience the Langhe even between one cycling adventure and the next one!
We head towards the roof of the Langhe: Mombarcaro, the highest municipality in the area. A long, progressive climb that rewards, switchback after switchback, with ever-wider views over the surrounding hills, until reaching a 360° panorama stretching from the Langhe to the Maritime Alps!
The last day on the bike takes us towards Serravalle Langhe, through the most authentic and least-traveled hills of the area. A route alternating demanding climbs with gentler stretches, for one last taste of the true Langa, far from the more touristy routes, before the grand finale!
Day eight is dedicated to the transfer to the airport and final greetings!
We hope these days among the rolling hills of the Langhe will stay in your heart — we can't wait to welcome you back on the bike for your next adventure!
☀️ Climate and Best Time to Visit: The Langhe region shows off its best in spring (April-June), when the hills turn a deep green and the vineyards are in full growth, and in autumn (September-October), the golden season by excellence: the grape harvest paints the hills in a thousand shades of red and gold and temperatures are perfect for cycling!
🍷 Local Food and Wine: The Langhe is synonymous with world-class food and wine excellence. This is the birthplace of Barolo and Barbaresco, the "kings" of Italian wine made from the Nebbiolo grape, alongside Dolcetto and Moscato d'Asti. The table is never without agnolotti del plin, braised beef in Barolo wine, tajarin with meat ragù, and, in season, the precious white truffle of Alba grated over every dish. It all comes to a close with Piemonte PGI hazelnuts, the stars of local desserts and chocolate — a region where every day in the saddle becomes a journey of flavor too!
🧭 Terrain Type: The routes of our Langhe Grand Tour wind along excellent-quality paved roads, with continuous rolling hills crossing a sea of vineyards as far as the eye can see — a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2014. A hilly terrain, never flat but never extreme either, perfect for road bike lovers!
🎮 Extra Activities for Non-Cycling Guests: The Langhe has plenty to offer for those staying off the bike too! Visit historic wineries with guided tastings, go truffle hunting with local trifolau and their dogs, explore villages like Barolo, La Morra, and Neive, discover the Castle of Grinzane Cavour and the WiMu - Wine Museum in Alba. Between food and wine shopping and Michelin-starred restaurants, every day brings new discoveries, even for our non-cycling guests!
